Planpay: Layby for travel

Bistro Molines, Mount View in the Hunter Valley

A first in the Australian travel sector, Planpay gives travellers the opportunity to create and pay off their holidays in advance. Similar to the traditional layby model, you can relax even before leaving home knowing you will be travelling debt free.

With so many travellers opting for last-minute holidays, Planpay enables you to pay off your trip even before you travel – how wonderful will it be returning home without any credit card debt?

In this uncertain world, the purpose-built Planpay website enables travellers to take control of their holidays from the planning stages and through to payment without the need for a large deposit and the flexibility to change dates if needed. Travellers can choose a holiday package or build their own to the value of $12,000 with the choice of paying it off in weekly interest-free instalments over a two-to-twelve-month period.

Planpay is an initiative by online travel agency Play Travel and CEO Andrew Paykel shares, “The re-opening of borders and the vaccine roll-out over the next six to twelve months is going to be crucial for the travel industry. Research shows Australian’s desire to travel hasn’t diminished however, travellers need the confidence to book ahead so they can start exploring again.”

Majestic Uluru

You might be wondering what kind of deals Play Travel can offer, right? They offer holidays all over Australia and New Zealand and also to the South Pacific and Asian destinations like Lombok and Bali for when our travel restrictions eventually ease.

There are a range of options including family holidays in Far North Tropical Queensland, mountain retreats, city stays, a journey to the heart of Uluru, sailing the Whitsundays or adventures in Queenstown. There are plenty of Staycation offerings too – such as a luxurious stay at the Crown Perth, Sydney’s Shangri or the Fiordland Lodge in Te Anea in New Zealand.

“At the moment we’ve got a great tour covering Margaret River and Rottnest Island which you can Planpay from just $70 a week with departures from now until June 2022,” says Andrew.

Play Travel also gives the option of Afterpay for travel within 48 hours – ideal in this unpredictable climate and for spontaneous travellers such as myself who love popping down south for the weekend on a whim.

Andrew shares, “I think we’re already seeing the emergence of a new type of travel given the current climate. Travellers are searching for more immediate experiences to destinations closer to home, which will be less likely to be impacted by border closures.”
