On a direct flight to Perth on Vietjet Air, I had the chance to fly in the unique SkyBoss class. Admittedly, the flight from Vietnam’s capital to Perth required an ungodly wake-up call to catch the 6.30am flight, but since it was direct, my flight to Perth on Vietjet had me home in just over six hours. And you can’t complain about that, especially when flying in the Skyboss class, Vietjet’s answer to Premium Economy.
Sometimes, I struggle to stay fit while travelling. In fact, I struggle to find time to stay fit even when I’m home and not on some overseas adventure. Even when I’m travelling specifically for the purpose of wellness, like to an Ayurveda retreat, the thought of controlled meals and organised fitness activities is probably my least favourite part since I love spontaneity. One of the joys of travel is enjoying the break in your routine, but if you travel regularly, it can play havoc with your fitness regime.

But I must confess, I was anxious about my stay in an Ayurveda retreat. I really like espressos, I don’t take kindly to being told what to eat and nor do I enjoy the taste of medicine. I wasn’t entirely on board with the vegetarian menu either during my stay at an Ayurveda retreat in Sri Lanka, unlike my neighbour pictured below.
Receiving an Ayurveda treatment is a life-changing experience for the body, mind and soul – but be prepared to have your Western sensitivities challenged, as I discovered on a recent trip to an Ayurveda spa in Sri Lanka.

Singapore’s Hainanese Chicken Rice is the Asian equivalent of what chicken soup is to the soul. Eaten any time of the day or night, this national dish is served everywhere from school canteens to high-end restaurants. Originally from Hainan Island in southern China, this wholesome dish is also often called Hainanese Chicken Rice, and is a meal of steamed or blanched chicken, fragrant rice and chicken broth eaten with soy sauce, spring onions, slices of cucumber, ground chilli and ginger sauce.
Thirty years have passed since Meg Ryan made cinematic history with THAT unforgettable climatic scene in When Harry Met Sally.
