I’m thrilled to announce that Permanent Impressions has been officially launched and here I am holding one of the first copies to land in Perth! It was a great honour to be asked to write the profiles to accompany 50 portraits of WA’s most influential women. The portraits are not for sale and will remain as a collection as a whole, however the book retails for $45. Find our more about the exhibition dates and order your copy here

Permanent Impressions & me

Permanent Impressions is a body of high quality works (portraits)  painted by artist Jana Vodesil-Baruffi, celebrating the achievements of Western Australian women, who have made a significant contribution to the Western Australian community and the Australian nation at large. It is intended the portraits will become a collectible and notable item that in time adds to the history of WA. The commencement of this project coincided with the 100 year celebrations (1911 to 2011) of the international women’s movement. 50 portraits were painted over an 18 month period and were completed in April 2013. Women invited to participate in this project are inductees from the WA Women’s Hall of Fame established as part of the 100 year celebrations of International Women’s Day. Included also are a number of women promoted by the Hall of Fame inductees who in their opinion are uncelebrated heroes of the WA community. The story of each of these women accompanies their portrait and offers an inspirational account of achievements by women who in their ordinary lives achieve extra ordinary things.

An opening exhibition is planned for early July 2013 in Perth, after which the exhibition will tour the WA regional areas commencing in Broome July 2013 and completing in Mandurah in March 2014.
