Who would have thought that just 15 minutes inland of Bunbury and about two hours south of Perth that the Ferguson Valley is awash with one of the state’s largest concentrations of art installations.

The Dardanup Art Spectacular Art Trail features sculptures, installations and quirky pieces of art throughout the Dardanup Region and over 40 exhibits are situated on the Follies Trail at the heavenly Peppermint Lane Lodge. The event is officially launched on Friday 3rd May at the Dardanup Hall at 7pm and tickets are available at the door.

Rapids by Britt Mikkelsen

Well known West Australian artist Britt Mikkelson will be exhibiting Rapids, inspired by Bells Rapids in the Swan

Mantle 3 by Tony Davis

Valley. Husband and wife Tony Davis and Merle Topsi Davis are also exhibiting along with their daughter Cassi-Jo who has a great café in nearby Waroona called Totem Rustic. Tony will be displaying a figurative form titled Mantle 3 created from salvaged hollow Jarrah logs that were destined for fire wood at a timber mill, combining the forces of nature (termites and fire) and man to breathe new life into the forest.

The art trail meanders at various venues through the Ferguson Valley over the 4th and 5th May weekend featuring the work of local artists (artworks are available for sale) and the award-winning wines, beers and food of the region. It’s best to download the brochure (www.dardanupartspectacular.com.au) to make the most of your journey, after all you wouldn’t want to miss out on all the creativity of the region’s artists and artisans.
